Annual Town of Springfield 4th of July Parade and Celebration. Living History Encampment Company H, 76th NYSVI.

    by srcurrie

On July 5th, 2004 the 76th marched in the Annual Springfield Center 4th of July Parade. Jon Sluti was with us again from the US Marine Corps and he became our Flag Bearer for the event.

I felt especially good about this parade as the cadence was kept for the whole length of the parade. I felt that we were in excellent form.

After the parade a living history area was set up with Captain Thompson's portable museum of actual Civil War artifacts. The Company "fly" was set up and people were free to come and ask questions and to join the unit.

Later, after the flag raising ceremony was over, it began to rain in buckets! Several people came to shelter under our canvas.

The 76th also won a prize this year. Thanks to all who attended.
