The 76th NYVI, has been busy these last few months around the state. Members of the 76th NYVI have attended the Ben Newton Memorial reenactment in Elmira, the Cherry Valley Memorial Parade, the Booneville monument dedication for the 97th NYVI, and the Salisbury Center reenactment. We also had a Company Picnic at the Captain's house after the Memorial Day Parade!

Cherry Valley Parade and Picnic at the Captain's house - The 76th marched in the Memorial Day parade remembering our honored servicemen and women and attended the ceremoniy in the cemetary. Afterward we all retired to the Captain's house for our annual picnic. The food was good and the company was awesome.

June 2,3,and 4 Salisbury Center - The 76th attended the reenactment at Salisbury Center. The weather was very poor as it rained for much of the weekend.

June 3 Booneville 97th NYVI dedication - Despite the rain several members of the 76th NYVI formed up as an honor gaurd to remember the heroic deeds of the 97 NYVI on their old parade grounds. The ceremony was held despite rain and we held our formation for an hour and a half in the drizzle. Our regimental flag flew in the place of honor. Letters from the original soldiers were read and songs were sung by various particpants. We ended the ceremny with three volleys.

June 1 Oneonta NY - Corporal Vinny teaches 5th Grade about the Civil War - Corporal Lori "Vinny" Paparteys took some elementary school students on a trip through time to the Civil War. Held in the city park, the kids were shown equipment and given hands on experience with certain aspects of Civil War Soldiers life. The kids practiced marcing and tried on various uniforms and equipment that a soldier of the time would have worn. Permission was given by the city for a firing demonstration and the kids commented on hw loud a musket sounded.
