Carnivorous Plants awaken for Spring 2005

    by srcurrie

Currieweb.com has a Mad Scientists Laboratory where we grow Carnivorous Plants. What are Carnivorous Plants you ask? Well, simply said, Carnivorous Plants are plants that have evolved the ability to eat insects and other small creatures in order to get vital nutrients unavailable in the soil.

Below is a picture taken 3/12/2005 of our Sundew Collection consisting of 7 Drosera Rotundfolia plants which are a little over a year old.

Plated from seed in October 2003 these plants have thrived at our home in Upstate New York. Recently the Sundews have begun to awaken from their Hibernaculum and have shown rapid growth over the last few days.

Check out our pages and then look up the International Carnivorous Plant Society.
