Annual meeting great success!
by srcurrie
On January 11, 2004 the 76th New York Volunteer Infantry, Company H had its annual meeting at the American Legion post in Cherry Valley. 14 members attended and much business was conducted.
Several changes were made in the NCO staff. Lori "Vinny" Paparteys and Brian Borton were promoted to Corporal. 2nd Sargeant George Wesling was appointed to the Quartermaster Sargeant position. John Sluti still remains a Corporal and George Sluti is still 1st Sargeant.
The unit also altered some rules with regard to participation in the unit thus making things easier for active duty U.S. Military to maintain their membership with the 76th. Additional rules were voted on and passed.
Company H voted on events that the unit intends to attend. Several events were marked "Maximum Effort" but the unit. The desination "Maximum Effort" simply means that the Company will try to have as many people at that event as possible. An example would be the Ben Newton Memorial Civil War Reenactment which is always well attended by the 76th.
1st Sargeant George Sluti discussed changes in the rules for NEMDA (Northeast Military District Alliance), an organization in which the 76th participates. Essentially all rules changes were to help increase safety at events.
Keep watching this site and we will have the unit event schedule posted! |
